HASAMI Black 15oz
HASAMI PORCELAIN is a stackable, modular ceramics line designed in Venice Beach, California by Japanese artist Taku Shinomoto. Introduced in 2012, each piece is characterized by aesthetically clean and modern lines while deeply rooted in traditional Japanese pottery design.
Hasami’s primary appeal is not only in its form, but also its functional design for ease of nesting, serving food, and its storage efficiency in areas with limited space. Using methods of porcelain manufacturing dating back over 400 years, Hasami Porcelain is made from a proprietary blend of clay and crushed stone from the historical village of Hasami in the Nagasaki prefecture of Japan.
Due to the organic nature of the materials used to make Hasami, sometimes, uneven coloring or “staining” can happen as a result of an uncontrollable chemical reaction between the glaze and raw material during the firing process. Changes in color and texture are not considered a flaw nor defective by Hasami master craftsmen. Each and every piece is one-of-a-kind and is what gives Hasami Porcelain its own individuality.
The color 'Natural' is fired in its natural state. The Color 'Black' and the color 'Gloss Gray' have a pigmented or glazed body. The combination of the two colors is reflected in the bare clay that peeks out at the edges.
